The One and Only, Computerized, Solar Powered Bubble Tower
This is it, the home of the Solar Powered Bubble Tower. A project as crazy as this needs to have it's own dedicated web site. The famous bubble tower has now been to 3 Burning Man events and 2 Oregon Country Fairs. It has slowly evolved into the fine machine that it is now. The photo above is from Burning Man '96, the inagural event for the tower. Since that first event I have added a larger solar panel, with a custom built tracking unit. I also built a custom computer micro-controller to run the bubble tower in full automation mode. It has been quite the fun evolution.
I have several sets of pictures of the tower. The first is set is the building of the micro-controller, and the installation of the larger tracking solar panel.
The next set is from Burning Man '98. The assembly and raising of the tower, and the eventual crash of the tower when an extreme wind storm hit, and blew it over.
The next stop for the bubble tower should be the 1999 Oregon Country Fair See ya there !!
